Native Watercraft T-Lock Steering Upgrade

Very good product the t lock system is securing the rudder so much better than a screw solid metal parts very impressive

My overall experience was very positive. The installation went smoothly and I could not be happier with the steering. I can turn faster and now do not have to worry about the steering cable coming loose. Great product.

My only concern with the steering upgrade, no instructions and the video has no voice instruction. The steering upgrade works great. It allows the rudder to adjust to 90 degrees for quick and tight turns. Overall I would recommend that native watercraft put on all of their kayaks.

Challenge to install with a retractable rudder system. Do not like the Burley rudder. Sure, it turns, but takes 2 people to clear and retract in the weeds.

Just installed my new BerleyPro Steering Upgrade for my Native Slayer Max 12.5. Installation videos were available in Youtube, what made the installation simple and fast. The Upgrade looks great, allowing for a much broader steering angle. I also added the BerleyPro Steering Handle, which provides a much better feeling. Looking forward to testing it soon in the ocean!

Learned about these upgrades on Youtube, so I decided to try them since I was not impressed with my Titan 13.5 & my wife’s Slayer Max 12.5 sloppy steering slack. Very glad I did, and would recommend if you want to enhance the whole kayaking/fishing experience, because it IS all about boat-positioning! Kudos to the Aussies!

The steering wheel angle has gotten a lot more comfortable

The only problem I have is the tracking I have to keep moving the handle to keep the kayak going straight.

If you are debating whether this upgrade is worth it, just stop debating and pull the trigger. This T-Lock steering upgrade, paired with the BP rudder, and BP steering handle is the best thing you can do for yourself, for your kayak, and for the free world. I am so glad I made the choice to spend a little more extra for my steering upgrade. The hub that holds the shaft of the rudder is a nice solid piece that makes great contact when making a turn. This paired with the BerleyPro Aluminum handle make full sweeping turns of the rudder with ease. There will be no doubt that you made the right choice if you need to upgrade your steering and choose this system.

This steering upgrade is great in two ways. First it is a major upgrade to the steering plate functionality, and secondarily it adds reinforcement to keep the rudder securely attached to the steering plate. It is also made from much higher quality components than the stock steering plate.

As someone who is on my third native Kayak we all know that the steering is subpar. This is a must have upgrade and this new T-Lock design is better than ever before. After doing this upgrade you’ll never be able to own another Native without the full Berley Pro Steering setup!

I got the rudder replacement first. Easy to install and it worked pretty good.
I then installed the steering upgrade. Wasn't complicated but, took longer than expected.The results exceeded my exceptations. My yak is much more fun now and a lot better for fishing. I suggest you get this setup. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent product. Video instructions were easy to follow. Took my Manta Ray Propel out for the first time since covid lockdown and the improvement to the steering was incredible. Multiple trolling passes along a short rock wall at my local lake are now super easy, especially with the restricted turning space.

I love my kayak but it definitely had its flaws. BerleyPro addressed what the manufacture did not and now my rig is good to go. Flawless craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Excellent upgrade. My yak can turn on a dime without replacing the rudder or steering lever. Great instructional video online for the installation part and it was easy to do with basic tools. Product is of high quality and fitted my yak perfectly. Delivery was fast. Cannot fault these guys

Not hard to instal. Made a tremendous difference in the steering of my kayak. Added 100% more movement of the rudder from a max of 45 degrees to now 90 degrees. Only had it out once since installed but looking forward to future use.

I purchased the complete steering upgrade for my titan. I noticed when it was very windy and I was fishing around a lot of stumps I couldn’t turn fast enough avoid them. I was making very wide turns and now I can slice through my desired path to avoid the stumps.

Fit great! Everything arrived as it should.

Honestly once its all installed its night and day how the steering feels. More responsive, feels smooth. Great upgrade for sure. The steps to install it very easy. There are videos on how to install all over youtube.

Installed and first time out the cable loosened up within the first 10 minutes on the water. Went home and went to loosen the screws and now the cord is frayed to where I can’t tighten anymore for fear it will break then I’m out a steering upgrade!
