Enhanced Steering Control, Ergonomics and Durability for your Hobie Compass or Outback
The BerleyPro Raised Aluminum Steering Handle features an extended and raised section that makes it easier to use with larger
rudders or in the current. You can also tension it down to help keep your kayak tracking straight so you can spend more time with your hand off the handle. It is made from an acetal base and aluminum CNC machined top. An m6 thread in the front allows you to attach a steering knob to the end if you wish.
The BerleyPro Raised Aluminum Steering Handle provides a much more comfortable and ergonomic grip, better leverage for steering (especially with larger rudders or in current/wind), improved tracking when tensioned, and allows you to keep your hand off the handle more often while maintaining straight-line travel.
CNC-machined aluminum top with a tough acetal base and stainless steel fasteners for maximum strength and corrosion resistance in saltwater.
The kit includes the raised aluminum handle, hardware, and all required fittings. Easily installed in around 15–20 minutes using basic tools (mainly a Phillips screwdriver). It’s a direct replacement for the stock handle. Watch our installation guide video

A perfect upgrade to a great kayak
Purchased from Lovig Kayak Fishing (Melbourne dealer).
Price seems a bit high at first (purchased two for an outback), but once installed, you can appreciate the quality and the comfort it brings compared to the stock handles. Value for money.

Solid product
There handles were Super easy to install on my 2019 hobie outback, only took about 30 min. The look of these handles are rich, after they were on a lot of people asked questions about them once they saw them. Great aftermarket addition. Once on the water I found that these handles were way more comfortable then stock due to the height difference. I also found the once I took both hands off the steering that the outback would track straight without the handles turning on their own. The stock steering would always drift. These solved that issue which is great when I am trolling two baits I am able to reel one in and keep the other out while still pedaling. Extremely happy with this product, I wasn’t surprised because I am always happy with my Berley Pro products. Keep up the great work guys.

Firm Grip
Love this handle, I’ve seen it on both the outback and the compass. It feels great and comfortable in the palm of my hand and its easier to steer you kayak with these.
It’s also stronger than the stock plastic handles that come with the kayaks. Big fan

Kickass Rudder handle
Not cheap but great upgrade for my Hobie Compass I can have rudder cable a little tighter and steer easily but also hold course more easily. And it looks kickass!

Brilliant upgrade and easy install.
This is one of the best improvements I did on my Compass Duo. It it allows for hands free tracking which is non existent with the original handle. Not only does it have a purpose, it looks awesome too. Highly recommend on any Compass.

The Turn Bro
Not that there was fundamentally anything wrong with the basic Hobie Compass rudder control, other than it was a bit slippery when wet, but that was until I fitted the Turn Bro, or as the website calls it, the Aluminium Handle. Fitting the new the new handle allowed me to tighten up the rudder cables and remove the slack, I also tightened up the handle so that when I was pedalling hands free, the kayak didn't wander around and it stayed on the track that I set up. Obviously this is possible with the current handle, except once tightened up, the rudder becomes harder to move, so the extended length of the Turn Bro made it simple to still turn the rudder, even though it was tightened up. I also found the extra length made it simpler to change direction by smaller increments and actually kept my hand further out of the water in rough conditions. This is important in cold weather or when there are stingers in the water. So all in all a very worthwhile investment. Just remember to add the loctite to the thread when you are installing the new handle and let it sit overnight to set.

Essential upgrade
I love my Hobie Compass and think it’s the best all rounder from Hobie. But the only thing that annoyed me was the the small steering handle. Not anymore with this Berleypro handle upgrade.
It’s providing better tracking and control especially in a following sea. I definitely recommend installing one.

Another Amazing piece of kit from Berley Pro. Now I can finally get a great grip on my steering handle. No slipping and I can feel it’s there. It’s a smooth turning light weight handle. It looks awesome on the yak to.
