Designed by Martyn — after one too many scratch stories of his own.

Martyn started building the Bumper Bro because he kept watching beautiful kayaks get gouged at the launch — including his own. The fix in the catalogue at the time was a generic strip of stick-on rubber. It didn’t fit, it peeled, and it didn’t actually save the hull.

So he laser-scanned every kayak in the BerleyPro range, machined a master mold for each model, and thermoformed the bumper out of marine-grade plastic that’s tougher than the gel-coat it protects. If we haven’t fished it, it doesn’t go in the catalogue.

That’s the BerleyPro standard: solutions to problems other manufacturers missed. Made by anglers, made in Australia, made to fit yours specifically.

Every supported model gets a full hull scan. Sub-millimetre data drives the bumper geometry. No guesswork, no “near enough.”

CNC the master

The bumper master is machined, not moulded. Hard edges stay hard. Curves match the hull exactly.

Thermoform marine-grade

Marine-grade plastic. Abrasion-resistant, UV-stable, salt-water happy. Built to take the hit and shrug it off for seasons.

Fit in 10 minutes

Marine adhesive backing. Clean the hull, peel, press, hold for 30 seconds. No drilling, no screws — ever.

How do I know it’ll fit my kayak?

Each Bumper Bro is CNC-machined in aluminium for a specific kayak model, from a 3D laser scan of that hull. If your kayak is in the picker above, the fit is guaranteed.

Will the marine adhesive damage my hull?

No. The recommended adhesive is a marine-grade silicone designed for permanent fitment to gel-coat and rotomould plastic. It’s removable with a simple recommended solvent and won’t damage or discolour the kayak.

What does “sacrificial by design” mean?

The Bumper Bro wears down BEFORE your hull does. Wear it down, replace it, keep fishing.

Bow only, stern only, or both?

Most launches scrape the stern. The picker shows what’s available for your model.

Will it slow my kayak down?

No. Bumper Bros are shaped to follow the hull’s natural waterline — zero hydrodynamic drag.

How fast does it ship?

All stock ships the next day, and can take 3–6 days to reach you globally from regional depots. AU orders ship same-day if placed by 2pm Melbourne time.

How do I replace one when it wears out?

Heat with a hair dryer for 30 seconds, peel off, clean the residue, and fit the new one. Takes 5 minutes.
