Mouning a Side Bro can be directly to your kayak, boat, fishing setup, cooler, or chair; it keeps tackle and tools you use most often exactly where you need them, ready the moment the action starts. One of the best features of the Side Bro is the ability to customize setup, along with the variety of mounting options to suit your individual needs, which is what these instructions are all about!
Planning The Fit-Out
Mounting should begin with some careful planning and consideration. Whilst drilling and using screws will provide the most secure mounting solution, it is also rather permanent, as holes can’t always be filled if you need to remove your Side Bro. This is especially a consideration in smaller boats, where desired mounting solutions might mean drilling holes right through a hull! This is where silicone, double-sided tape or Velcro will be a much better option. These instructions are specifically for users who have decided to utilise Velcro as an adhesive. Velcro is a great choice as the Side Bro can be easily removed if required.
Installation Steps
Step 1 – Before starting, you should map out where you want your Side Bro to mount, ensuring it will fit without obstruction.
Step 2 – The cleanliness of the mating surface and the Backing Bro is essential to get good adhesion. We recommend the use of isopropyl alcohol or white vinegar and a clean rag to thoroughly prepare the surface.
Step 3 – Use a straight edge, ruler, or level, along with a Sharpie pen, to mark where your Side Bro will mount.
Step 4 – Attach the Backing Bro to the Rear of the Side Bro, utilising the supplied stainless steel hardware. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver.
Step 5 – Cut to length 2 or 3 x 250mm lengths of Velcro tape. Peel off the adhesive backing from the hook side of the Velcro, and carefully stick these 15 – 25mm from the edge of the top and bottom of the Backing Bro. A third strip can also be used if desired.
Step 6 – Mate the loop side of the velcro onto the hook side and remove the adhesive backing. Align and carefully press the Side Bro into position on your chosen mounting location, guided by the markings you made at Step 3. Be careful with alignment; however, with Velcro some minor adjustments to alignment will be possible.
Step 7 – Once you have firmly pressed on all edges of the Side Bro, you can remove the Side Bro from the Velcro hook and loop connection by carefully lifting from one side. The Velcro strips will remain adhered to the Backing Bro and the mating surface and are able to be refitted many times.
Step 8 – Your Side Bro is ready to use. Don’t forget to add some Divided Bro’s and a Tool Bro for ultimate flexibility.
